Isaiah 9:2 says, "The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of the shadow of death a light has dawned." This weekend, we praise God that the light of Jesus Christ has dawned in our lives! How thankful I am that almost 34 years ago the Lord allowed me to see this great light - to come into a relationship with Him where darkness would no longer govern my life, but where the joy, beauty, peace and love of God would be mine forever.
For me, Christmas is a reminder of all that He has done! Yes, the decortaions are wonderful, and so are the gifts, Christmas trees, seasonal movies, and so much more - but O the joy of knowing Jesus Christ, the One who came that a light might dawn in the hearts of people all over the world. For truly, He has "shattered the yoke that burdens them, the bar across their shoulders, the rod of their oppressor" (Is. 9:4). The Lord has done all this for us!
