Seeing Again

This morning I was reading in Acts 9:17 where Ananias went to pray for Saul saying, "Brother Saul, the Lord - Jesus, who appeared to you on the road as you were coming here - has sent me so that you may see again..." (NIV). I was struck by these words "see again," for they point to the fact that Saul had been used to seeing things a certain way, but now his perspective - his way of seeing - was being changed. Saul was being transformed in a way that would allow him to "see again" how life should be lived.

As I was praying this morning, I thought about this idea of "seeing again" when it comes to all that God has shown us over the years. I have been a Christian for 34 years, and during that time there has been much that the Lord has shown the body of Christ. Just consider some of the truths that have impacted the church over the past three decades:

* The baptism in the Holy Spirit and the use of spiritual gifts
* The kingdom of God
* Serving and family life
* Apostles and prophets
* Understanding covenant and close relationships
* Living victoriously
* Restoring the church

On and on the list could go. But of one thing we can be certain: We cannot afford to forget these truths! If we have, or if they have become somewhat unimportant to us, we must ask God to help us "see again!" In this way, we can be assured of passing these great truths on to the next generation without anything being lost.
