In his famous children’s classic entitled Alice in Wonderland, Lewis Carroll tells of the time when Alice meets a well-dressed rabbit carrying a pocket-watch. Strangely, she overheard the rabbit muttering to itself, “Oh, dear! Oh, dear! I shall be too late!” The impression one gets from the story is that this was one very busy rabbit with no time at all to stop and chat. Well, I can honestly tell you that I have never met a busy rabbit who talks, but I have met some very busy people! In fact, the one phrase that seems to stand out as a testimony to our culture and society comes from people who consistently say, “I’m just so busy.”
In light of hearing this phrase over and over again, I wonder whether we each need to examine our lives in order to see how busy we actually are. Perhaps we will find that a few changes are needed. On this matter, the famous English poet T.S. Eliot once asked a very haunting question in one of his poems: “Where is the Life we have lost in the living?” Of course, the Life he is referring to relates to none other than God Himself and the LIFE He offers to all that enter His kingdom. Eliot’s question challenges us to consider whether our busyness causes us to end up missing God, His purpose for our lives, and the many wonderful blessings He offers to each one of us.
It is probably fair to say that one of the greatest tragedies one can face is to end up missing Real Life in the living of a busy life from day to day. This is why Dr. Richard Swenson points out in his book entitled Margin that “We are a tired society. Even our leisure is often exhausting. With generator indicators continuously pointing to ‘discharge,’ it is little wonder our batteries are drained.” He says, “Our weary, withered state is not God’s plan.” Consider this in light of Jesus’ statement in John 10:10: “I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full” (NIV). Therefore, let us not let busyness squeeze us to the point where we wrongfully, indeed tragically, lose the wonderful life that God has given to each one of us.

Great couple of posts here Bill! I often wonder if we (myself included) actually live intentionally or just get swept along by the stream of 'life'. What we call life seems to be something that happens to us...we should happen to life!
