This past week I conducted a fifteen minute telephone interview with Dick Todd, the Head Coach of the Ontario Hockey League's Peterborough Petes. The reason for the interview was to gain some added insight into how successful teams work. As most Canadian hockey fans know, the Petes have always done well in the league, so I thought it would be interesting to hear how they have achieved their success. The two questions I asked Mr. Todd were:
1. What are some of the characteristics that make for a successful team?
2. What is required of each player in order to create a successful team?
Consider how Mr. Todd responded to these questions. Let me know if you think there might be any similarities between successful team building and the future of our churches. Here goes:
1. Each member must have an overall desire for the team to become successful.
2. Each member must be disciplined both on and off the ice in order to achieve the goal of winning.
3. Each member must make a daily commitment to build personal strength and endurance for the sake of the team.
4. Each member must move from an "I-I" view of how the game is played to a "We-We" view of team building.

Even though this guy leads the enemy (I'm a 67's fan), he makes some great points. Good post Bill. I'll try to find Brian Kilrea's phone number...!
